São Bento Church and Monastery

Amazing!!  The monastery was built from 1617 to 1633 and now considered a world monument by UNESCO.  The outside looks plain and I would have just passed by..but, it was highly recommended by a local co-worker and it was only 2mins walk from the office.  Anyways, it was worth the visit.  The inside was just amazing!  Painted in gold with every inch of the wall filled with some kind of detailed engraving.  When you’re in there, you just feel so overwhelmed..It’s the heavy decorations and also you just feel like someone’s watching…who knows what’s behind all of those sculptures! 😛
